Lowell, ARK. – On July 1st, 2015, United Way of Northwest Arkansas elected new Board members and officers for their 2015-2016 fiscal year, which will be a defining year for United Way as it continues to transition to our primary issue focus of children living in poverty. The newly-elected Board members include:
Blakeman and Johnson are renewing their terms, while Fisher, Manry, and Robertson are stepping back on to the Board after serving as Honorary (non-voting) members. The five have served pivotal roles for United Way in previous years and will continue to bring much to the Board.
Manry chose to step back onto the Board because “United Way serves a unique position in our community, as it reaches so many. Whether you are a donor or you receive services from our partner agencies, we all are elevated by living in such a caring community. I look forward to continuing to serve on the United Way Board to help build our community with our special focus on children in poverty.” Manry has been involved with the Board of Directors for United Way NWA for over 25 years.
Along with new members, the Board of Directors elected new Board officers:
Giauque, who served as the 2014-2015 Campaign Cabinet Chair, is stepping into the Chairwoman role following Danny Funkhouser (General Manager, Print Solutions, Walmart), who served as Board Chairman in 2014-2015. Woody previously served as Board Treasurer and Deck, who has served on United Way NWA’s Board of Directors since 2009, was most recently Board Vice Chairwoman. “I’m looking forward to helping the United Way become even more effective in helping the children of Northwest Arkansas,” said Deck. “To have the best shot at a full and prosperous life, every child needs access to some basic needs: a safe, secure home, nutritious food, adults who care, and educational opportunities. I enjoy working with the United Way to help provide these to all of the area’s children.”
Gary Cooper (SVP and CIO, Tyson Foods Inc.), Don Bechtel (Partner, The Partnering Group), Mike Luttrell (President, Walker Brothers Insurance, Inc.), and Carolyn Rehbock (Chief Marketing Officer, Saddlebock Brewery) ended their Board terms as of July 1, 2015.
