In honor of National Volunteer Week our staff/interns have written about their favorite volunteer experience. We love to get out in our community as much as we can! Sarah’s favorite experience was when she volunteered serving a Christmas eve dinner at the Salvation Army.

“One of my most memorable volunteer experiences was when a group of us went to the Salvation Army on Christmas Eve to serve a holiday meal to the people there. We cooked a delicious meal of traditional holiday foods, and afterwards we sat with everyone and ate with them. It was so nice to get to know the people there. I can honestly say that serving food to people who were in need of a good meal on Christmas Eve was one of the best Christmas Eves I have had. To me, giving to others and focusing on meeting someone else’s need is more fun than opening up presents. After chatting with one of the ladies there, I gave her a hug. It felt so rewarding to be able to converse with someone and show them that they were cared for.”
