This is an exciting time for the
United Way of McDonald County. Recently, our
board of directors voted to become an umbrella
organization under the United Way of Northwest
Arkansas. Overnight, we became a stronger
organization – growing from a complete volunteer
run organization to having access to a full time
staff that can provide the leadership we
desperately needed to stay relevant in our
community.
Partnering with United Way of Northwest Arkansas
was a natural fit. We’ve worked together
successfully for several years through the
annual Wal-Mart Giving Campaign, “Stuffing the
Bus” with school supplies and receiving much
needed product from the United Way of NWA Gift
in Kind Warehouse.
Many McDonald County citizens work in NWA and
live in McDonald County. The money you donate
through workplace campaigns in the area will
stay in McDonald County by simply checking the
United Way of McDonald County box on the pledge
form. Our Advisory Committee will invest the
dollars in local agencies and local programs
that benefit our McDonald County children and
families.
Join us in this exciting opportunity! We can not
make a positive impact on our community alone.
We are looking for people with caring hearts who
want to get involved with some of our United Way
activities and help make a difference in the
lives of people in McDonald County.
Partnering Benefits:
• leveraging combined resources maximizes our
potential
• more regional resources means more local
impact
• best way to address the growing needs of
McDonald County
In Case You Were Wondering:
• McDonald County volunteers remain solely
responsible for distributing funds raised in our
community to our LOCAL organizations
• we will continue to invest in local
organizations & programs
• local board representation on the United Way
Board

Stuff the Bus |

A volunteer helps sort supplies as they
are collected for the United Way Stuff the Bus event
|
One way that we are working
to advance the good of all is to ensure that when school
starts each year that every child has the ability to return
to the classroom with all the supplies that are needed for
them to be successful.
United Way believes that the inability to afford school
supplies should not be an obstacle to a child’s success, and
that is why each year we facilitate Stuff the Bus.
This program ensures that all children who need them have
access to the school supplies that are required for back to
school. Each year we park a school bus in front of local
Wal-Mart stores and ask individuals who can to buy an extra
pack of pencils, paper, glue, crayons, etc. for children in
the local school systems.
This is a major effort to create lasting changes in our
community, and we can’t do it alone. We need volunteers to
help make the effort a success.
We are asking you to log on to our
volunteer website,
and sign up to help us collect supplies. It only takes a few
hours of your time on August 1 & 2, but you will be helping
to reach out a hand to one and influence the condition of
all.
Because when a child has the ability to start school with
one less obstacle to success, then we all win, and you are
illustrating your commitment to Live United.
