INSPIRING US THIS WEEK: SAWYER’S STORY

11204450_10153451665031460_9092323794292940110_nSawyer, a 2015 high school graduate and individual with disabilities, used his own money to buy school supplies for Fill the Bus at the Siloam Springs Walmart! He picked out one of every item on the list and filled a backpack. Sawyer’s mom said that he was very picky and only selected items that he knew students would love to have, regardless of the cost. In total, he spent around $50. When Sawyer and his mom brought the filled backpack to the bus, he was so excited to show us the supplies he had picked out and wanted to know all of the steps for distribution. According to his mom, their family has always given money to charity, but this was the first time that Sawyer got to actually participate and see something tangible. She was so grateful to share this life lesson with her son and for him to learn how to give back to others in need.
