Arkansas 2-1-1

The holiday season is a time of giving, receiving, and doing good for others. With the holiday season upon us we’d like to highlight one of our direct services that does good all year round—the Arkansas 2-1-1 service! We’ve put together everything you need to know about 2-1-1, including a 2-1-1 overview, an introduction to the new Program Manager, and a holiday programs guide.

What is 2-1-1?

2-1-1 is the direct link between people who need help and people who can give help. 2-1-1 is a free telephone service that connects those in need to important community services in Benton, Carroll, Washington and Madison counties. 2-1-1 is an easy to remember number that people who have a need may call to learn about programs that provide the assistance they request.  When members of the community contact the service, they can receive information about 748 agencies, with 974 sites, providing 1405 programs at 2282 service sites. These referral services include:

  • Food banks, shelters, and rent/utility assistance.
  • Health insurance programs, crisis intervention services, support groups, counseling, drug and alcohol rehabilitation services
  • Employment support
  • Support services for the children and elderly.

From Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, professional Information and Referral Specialists will provide resources to callers that will address their needs in English or Spanish. There are a variety of ways to contact:

  • From landlines, dial 2-1-1
  • From mobile devices dial 2-1-1 or 479-365-2147
  • From our mobile-friendly website arkansas211.org . 2-1-1 website is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Join us in welcoming the new Program Manager!

Carlos is the new Program Manager for Northwest Arkansas 2-1-1.  He comes to us with 8 ½ years’ experience working at a 2-1-1 Program in Riverside County, California.  He is passionate about helping people in need and enjoys being able to use his experience and knowledge to empower the people he serves.  He is thankful that he can serve both English and Spanish-speakers on the phone and in the community.  He has studied in California and Michigan and has had the privilege of visiting, or living in, North, Central and South America.  He would love to get to know the community and its leaders so that he can better serve them. We’re happy to have Carlos as part of the team serving Northwest Arkansas!

If you have questions or concerns, or know of some community resource you believe would be beneficial to include in the database, please feel free to contact Carlos via e-mail (CGarbutt@arcrisis.org) or by phone at (479 365-2141.
